Aging Is a Scam (And My Body Forgot to Tell Me)

Aging Is a Scam (And My Body Forgot to Tell Me)

Let me say this loud for the people in the back:

Aging is a scam.

Not like a “small hidden fee” scam… I’m talking full-blown you didn’t read the terms and conditions and now your knees sound like bubble wrap type of scam.

Because mentally?

Oh, mentally I’m still in my 20s.

Physically?

My body is filing complaints with HR.

My Brain: “We Still Got It”

My brain wakes up every morning like:

“Let’s go. Today feels like a good day to be elite.”

I still think I can:

Stay up until 2AM like it’s nothing

Eat whatever I want with zero consequences

Jump into random physical activity like I’m training for the Olympics

In my head, I’m still that version of me that could:

Sleep for 3 hours and function like a superhero

Wake up without making any sound

Sit down and stand up without a full internal strategy meeting

Confidence? Still there.

Delusion? Also still there.

My Body: “Absolutely Not”

Meanwhile, my body wakes up like:

“Let’s all just calm down today.”

I don’t “get out of bed” anymore…

I negotiate my release.

Every morning includes:

A mysterious back pain with no origin story

Knees that sound like a bag of chips opening

Stretching that feels like I’m preparing for battle

And don’t even get me started on sleeping wrong.

Sleeping. Wrong.

I used to sleep on couches, floors, friends’ houses, car seats—no problem.

Now?

I sleep slightly angled and wake up like:

“Well… that’s my neck gone.”

The Betrayal Moments

There are certain moments that make you realize aging is, in fact, a scam:

1. Sneezing wrong

How does a sneeze throw out your back??

Who designed this update?

2. Sitting too long

Stand up too fast and your body goes:

“Whoa whoa… we’re not built for speed anymore.”

3. Random injuries with no memory

You wake up sore like you ran a marathon.

You did not run a marathon.

You went to Target.

The Energy Lies

Mentally:

“Let’s clean the whole house, start a new business, hit the gym, and cook dinner from scratch.”

Physically:

“How about we sit down… forever.”

There’s a very real moment in your day where you realize: You are not tired from doing too much…

You’re tired from existing.

But Here’s the Truth (That Nobody Tells You)

Even though aging is absolutely a scam…

There’s something wild about it:

You’re actually better than you were in your 20s.

You care less about what people think

You know what matters (and what definitely doesn’t)

You’ve built something—family, memories, chaos, love

You’ve survived things your younger self couldn’t even imagine

Yeah, your back hurts…

But your perspective? Way stronger.

The Final Verdict

Aging is a scam… but it’s also kind of a glow-up in disguise.

You just don’t bounce back like you used to.

You strategically recover.

You don’t party all night anymore.

You evaluate if it’s worth being tired tomorrow.

You don’t move fast…

You move smart-ish.

Closing Thoughts from Someone Who Pulled a Muscle Putting on Socks

If you’re out here:

Still thinking like you’re 25

But stretching like you’re 87

Just know…

You’re not alone.

We’re all out here: Mentally young.

Physically negotiating.

Emotionally just trying to make it through the day without pulling something.

Momof2Boyz Reminder 💙

Aging might be a scam…

But the life you’re building?

That part’s real.

Even if your knees sound like popcorn while you’re doing it.
