# Two Types of People: How We See Animals Says a Lot About Us

**By Momof 2Boyz** · 2026-04-15

There really do seem to be two types of people in this world.

The first type looks at an animal and sees a living soul. They see feelings, personality, fear, joy, loyalty, sadness, excitement, and love. They know a dog isn’t “just a dog.” A cat isn’t “just a cat.” A bird, rabbit, hamster, or even the tiniest creature can form bonds, feel comfort, experience stress, and show trust.

The second type looks at an animal and simply sees… an animal.

Something beneath them. Something replaceable. Something that exists without emotions or meaning beyond basic survival.

And while everyone is entitled to their opinion, it’s hard not to notice how differently these two groups move through the world.

Animals Feel More Than Some People Realize

Anyone who has ever had a pet knows the truth.

Animals celebrate when you come home.

They grieve when they lose a companion.

They get scared during storms.

They seek comfort when they’re hurting.

They show jealousy, excitement, curiosity, and affection in ways that don’t need words.

They may not speak our language, but they communicate clearly to those willing to pay attention.

A wagging tail.

A slow blink.

A nuzzle.

A protective stance.

A happy bounce.

A gentle cuddle when you’re having a bad day.

That’s not “nothing.” That’s connection.

Compassion Is a Choice

How we treat animals often reflects how we understand kindness itself.

When someone respects animals, cares for them, and recognizes their emotions, it usually comes from empathy. It means they understand that life doesn’t need to look like us or speak like us to matter.

When someone dismisses animals as “just animals,” they may be missing something deeper: the ability to value life outside of themselves.

Because compassion should never be reserved only for what is convenient.

They Are Family to Many of Us

For so many homes, pets are not decorations or background noise.

They are family.

They’re the one waiting at the door.

They’re the reason you laugh after a hard day.

They’re the cuddle beside you when life feels heavy.

They’re the routine, the comfort, the joy, and sometimes the glue that keeps a home feeling warm.

Ask anyone who has cried over losing a pet if they were “just an animal.”

You already know the answer.

Maybe There Are Two Types of People

Maybe there really are two types of people:

Those who recognize that animals think, feel, trust, love, and matter.

And those who haven’t learned that yet.

At Momof2Boyz, we’ll always be on the side of kindness, compassion, and the belief that every paw, tail, whisker, and heartbeat matters. Because animals don’t have to speak for us to know they feel.

Small Shop. Big Smiles.
